John D. Swain
PhD in Physics 1990, University of Toronto, currently
faculty member
at Northeastern University in Boston with research activities there,
at CERN in Geneva (L3 and CMS experiments), and in Malargue, Argentina
(Pierre Auger Observatory). Member of the IIB Institution Board
since
2000. Over 300 publications in high energy physics and astrophysics
(theory and experiment) as well as various other fields including
computer science, statistical techniques, quantum field theory,
and
semiconductor device physics and others. Syndicated columnist and
science writer for several years. Working on high quantum efficiency
photodetectors with possible applications to biophysics.
