The preceding event of an International Conference of Biophotons took place in  January 24-26, 1986 in Wroclaw (Poland). The results of the conference have been published by B. Jezowska-Trzebiatowska, B. Kochel, J. Slawinski and W. Strek (eds.): Photon Emission from Biological Systems, World Scientific, Singapore, 1987.

1993

• April 1993: Prof.  Dr. F. A. Popp visited Moscow State University in Moscow and Institute of Biophysics, Chinese Academy of Sciences in Beijing and also Hangzhou University July 1993: Prof. J. J. Chang visited and worked in Popp's Lab. at Kaiserslautern for the first time.
• Sep. 1993: Prof. V.L. Voeikov visited and worked in Popp's laboratory at Kaiserslautern for the first time.
• Oct. 1993: Prof. L.V. Beloussov visited and worked in Popp's laboratory at Kaiserslautern for the first time.
• Oct. 1993: Prof. F. Musumeci visited and worked in Popp's laboratory at Kaiserslautern.
• Oct. 1993: Prof. X. Shen Visited Popp's laboratory again and worked in the laboratory at Kaiserslautern.
• Oct. 1993: Prof. M. Lipkind visited and worked in Popp's laboratory at Kaiserslautern.
• Nov. 1993: The first internal meeting was held in Popp's laboratory at Kaiserslautern.

1994

• July 10 to 13, 1994: The second internal meeting was held in Popp's laboratory discussing a Journal and the foundation of an institute.
• Sep. 28 to Oct. 2: International Conference dedicated to the 120th birthday of A.G. Gurwitsch was held in Moscow State University.
• 1994: Whole body measurement system has been established in Popp's laboratory and some experiments were made by using this system.
• 1994: The book entitled , "Bioelectrodynamcs and Biocommunication" (edited by M. W. Ho, F. A. Popp and U. Warnke) was published by World Scientific publishing Co. Pte. Ltd.

1995

• Jan. 1, 1995: M. Bischof moved to Neuss. The International Institute of Biophysics(IIB) opened its new central office at Neuss and M. Bischof became the Managing Director (till 31 December 1995)
• Feb. to Apr. 1995: At our monthly lectures K. H. Li, M. Bischof, F. A. Popp and J. J. Chang spoke on "The Significance of Coherence and the Heisenberg Uncertainty Relation for Biology", "Biophotons- The Light in Our Cells", "Biophotons and Coherence", "Communication in and between Cells".
• March 1995: The Coincidence Counting System (CCS) in Kaiserslautern was perfected and used for the first time.
• May 18 to 21, 1995: International conference on consciousness was held in IIB, Neuss organised by IR CL (Princeton University).
• Sep. 1995: Prof.  R. P. Bajbai visited Popp's laboratory for the first time and made measurements in Kaiserslautern.
• Oct. 2, 1995: Internal meeting was held in Neuss, the presidency of the IIB and the secretary were elected. The IIB was registered in Duesseldorf on Oct 4. The founding members are:
• Lev Beloussov, Jiin-Ju Chang, Barbra W. Chwirot, Michael Lipkind, Zhong-Shen Liu, Franco Musumeci, Walter Nagl, Fritz-Albert Popp, Xun Shen, Roeland van Wijk, Chang-Lin Zhang and IR CL (Princeton University).
• Oct. 2 to 5, 1995: Conference on biophysics was held on the Rocket Station. Public lectures were delivered by IIB members.
• 1995: The Book "Biophotons" Proceedings of International Conference dedicate to the 120th birthday of Alexander Gavrilovich Gurwisch (edited by L.V. Beloussov and F.A.Popp) was published by Bioinform services Co., Russia

1996

• 1996: The book entitled "Current Development of Biophysics" (edited by C. L. Zhang and F. A. Popp) was published by Hang zhou University Press.
• Oct. 25 to 27, 1996: Opening of the IIB conference held in Neuss. Prof. H. P. Dürr (the follower of Heisenberg) presented the opening talk.
• Oct. 28 to 29, 1996: Internal meeting of the IIB was held in Neuss.

1997

• Jun. 19 to 20, 1997: Conference on Biophotons was held in two places: The first part took place at the Technical University of Ilmenau
• Oct. 21 to 25, 1997: The second part of the conference was held in the IIB at Neuss
• Oct. 25 and 26, 1997: Internal meeting of the IIB discussing about common projects was held in Neuss. R. P. Baijbai, G. J. Hyland and V. L. Voeikov became new members.
• Nov. 14 - 16, 1997: Conference on Biophotons and food quality was held in the IIB at Neuss. It was supported by the Schweisfurth Foundation.

1998

• 1998: The book entitled "Biophotons" (edited by J. J. Chang, J. Fisch and F. A. Popp) was published by Kluwer Academic Publishers.
• Aug. 20 to 24, 1998: Conference on Biophotons was held in Neuss.
• Aug. 21 and 25, 1998: Internal meeting of the IIB was held in Neuss. The presidency of the IIB was elected and the common projects. etc were discussed.

1999

• September 6 to 10, 1999: Biophotonics Conference: Non-equilibrium and Coherent Systems in Biology, Biophysics and Biotechnology. At the Moscow State University, Moscow, Russia. H. Niggli became a new member.

2000

• 2000: The book entitled "Elemente des Lebens" (edited by H. P. Dürr, F. A. Popp and W. Schommers) was published by Die Graue Edition.
• September 1 to 10, 2000: Inauguration festivities of the International Institute of Biophysics, at "Insel Hombroich", Neuss, Germany. S. Shnoll, J. Swain and Z. Yan became new members.

2001

• August 24 to 31: The IIB's annual conference was held at the International Institute of Biophysics in Neuss, Germany. M. Hiramatsu, T. Makino and L. von Klitzing became new members
• September 2 to 8: the IIB's summer school "Biophotons in Life Sciences" in Neuss, Germany.
