announce the 3rd Alexander Gurwitsch Conference on Biophotons and
Coherent Systems in Biology, Biophysics and Biotechnology to be
held from September 27th to October 2nd, 2004,
in Simferopol and Partenit (Crimea).
Alexander Gavrilovich Gurwitsch (1874-1954), one of the most outstanding
biologists of XX century, was in 1918-1924 a Professor of Histology
in Tauric University. Right there he made his most important discovery
of an ultraweak photon emission from the living systems (which gave
rise to the biophotonics) and submitted a first sketch of the morphogenetic
field theory. The conference is adjusted to the 130 anniversary
of Gurwitsch's birthday and, at the same time, to the 100 anniversary
of Academician Gleb Frank, a founder of the Institute of Biophysics,
Russian Academy of Sciences. Attending in 1920-24 the lectures in
Tauric University, Frank was one of the closest Gurwitsch's students
and made an important contribution o the biophotonics. By a happy
occasion, a house of the first Gurwitsch Laboratory in Simferopol
is still preserved and will be decorated by a Memory Desk during
the opening of the Conference.
Two preceded Gurwitsch Conferences took place in Moscow State University
in 1994 and 1999 correspondingly and got a wide international audience.
The papers presented at the conferences have been published as the
following volumes:
- Biophotonics (L.V.Beloussov and F.-A. Popp eds) BioInform Services,
Moscow, 1995.
- Biophotonics and Coherent Systems (L.V.Beloussov, F.-A. Popp,
V.L. Voeikov and R. van Wijk eds) Moscow University Press, Moscow
2000.
The contributions to the 3rd Gurwitsch conference will be published
by Kluwer publishing house.
The announced Conference will include
the following topics:
- Biophotonics - spontaneous and induced ultraweak radiation of
the living systems, their physical nature and biological role;
Biological effects of electromagnetic fields and radiations, both
natural and technogenic;
- A problem of coherency (holistic coordination) of the living
processes in the developing and steady-state organisms as an elaboration
and generalization of the morphogenetic field concept.
The working language of the Conference is English.
The opening and the Plenary session of the Conference will take
place in Tauric University (Simferopol). The Conference will continue
its work in the rest-house of Partenit, a picturesque place located
at the Black Sea shore. Planned are excursions and cultural entertainment.
A daily cost (including meals) ranges from 45 to 75 EUR. Registration
fee for full participants is 200 EUR, for students and accompanying
persons 100 EUR. The fee includes the costs of Abstracts,
transportation, excursions and other expenses.
The Organizing Committee of the 3rd Alexander Gurwitsch Conference
invites all the interested persons to send their applications before
March 1st, 2004, and, in the case of
acceptance, to send Abstracts before May 1st,
2004. Planned are both the oral presentations and the posters.
The application should be sent by the electronic address csc@science-center.net
or by the registration form:
